A Machine That Listens
The documented installation received speech through a microphone and responded with text and images found online. Its presentation compared learning to listen with a child learning language.
An approachable listening interface
The project offers a historical example of giving an audio interface an approachable physical character. Its responses joined speech with visible interpretations, making the gap between what a visitor said and what a machine appeared to understand part of the experience.
