Privacy &
site measurement.

A small amount of first-party measurement helps us understand which guides people use.

Traffic records

The web server records the time, connection IP address, request method, sanitized page path, response status, browser user agent, and content type. Search terms, query strings, referrers, cookies, authorization headers, and request bodies are excluded. Unknown paths are grouped rather than recorded verbatim.

Estimated visible reading time

A first-party script records page views and cumulative time while a tab is visible. It uses random browser, session, page-view, and event identifiers. The browser identifier is stored in your browser and renewed after 60 days without use; a session renews after 30 minutes of inactivity. Visible time is an estimate, not proof of attention.

Timing events contain the page path and duration, and the server adds the connection IP and user agent. They go only to this website. Your playground designs and settings are not included.

Retention and access

Traffic, timing, and related diagnostic records expire after a rolling 60 days. Logs are protected and available only to the service and authorized analytics collector. The private analytics dashboard stores hashed visitor identifiers and may estimate a country or region from the IP address; it does not use a guide’s subject as the visitor’s location.

Your browser

You can prevent browser timing by disabling JavaScript or blocking the first-party timing script. Clearing this site’s local storage removes its browser identifiers. Basic server request records still apply when you load a page.
