The 12 Worst Mistakes Travel Fox Rookies Make—and How to Avoid Them.
What is travel fox?
This is the second in a series of travel fox posts, where I’ll talk about how to avoid the 12 most common mistakes travel rookies make, which can save you money, time, and frustration. If you’ve got time and money, I recommend watching this episode first, then skipping ahead to episode three.
A travel rookie is someone who travels as part of a trip. In a typical trip, you get to see as much as you can, and you save money. It’s not just that you get a better deal, it’s that you get to see a different region of the world in a shorter period of time. If you’re going to see parts of the world you’ve never seen before, you might as well see them as good as you can.
These are the 12 worst mistakes travel rookies make, and how you can avoid them.
The first mistake, of course, is to not pack a lunch. And for that, we all blame the travel agent. Travel agents and airline agents have training programs that help them figure out which of the many items to include in your luggage could be an expensive one. They know that some foods (like bread) are more expensive than others. They also know that the most expensive item in a hotel room is probably the bedding. In this case, however, the travel agent did the opposite.
But what about the other 10?
The other 10 are the ones you would pick on the road. There is a certain element of “what if” in travel, and that is the fact that if you get a flight that doesn’t have a seat, you may have a short list of alternatives. This is why planes and trains have seats that are folded up in airline seats that are folded to the right.
So what do you do when you get a flight that doesn’t have a standard seat? Most of the time you go with the second-best option that is folded up to the right. But sometimes you can’t trust the person who booked the flight. Sometimes the travel agent is simply trying to confuse you. There are many reasons why someone who booked a flight may be trying to pull a fast one on you.
