The Death Korps of Krieg are a group of Imperial Guard Regiments in post-nuclear Death World of Krieg in the Segmentum Tempestus. Named Death Korps after the deathly battlefields they fight on, these Astra Militarum regiments were given their name in 1,500 standard years ago during a rebellion against the Imperium over 1,500 standard years ago. The Death Korps have earned themselves a reputation as some of the most battle-hardened and disciplined troops within an already elite fighting force and continue to serve valiantly in this capacity to this day.
Where do Death Korps of Krieg Come From?
The history of the Segmentum Tempestus is shrouded in rumour, allegory and dark myth. This once-thriving Hive World was a trading and manufacturing centre that was populated by billions. One fateful day, Death Korps of Krieg Death World was obliterated by a nuclear warhead that left an irradiated wasteland for several solar decades.
The land is now fully corrupted, in the terrible ruin under the misrule of their leaders. Death Korps of Krieg Astra Militarum regiments are now used to fight against the Imperium’s own rebel forces within this world.
How are the Death Korps of Krieg made?
Similar to other regiments, they are enrolled in Death Korps of Krieg Astra Militarum regiments through a system that is used in the Imperium. Often, Death Korps of Krieg Death World individual who has been born to be an officer or soldier and comes from a family with generations of service will enlist as soon as they are old enough.
There are unique harsh training methods, combat doctrines and regimental organisation to recruit Death Korps of Krieg Death World from the population.
The minds and characters of the candidates are purposefully broken and remade stronger, along with the training for their bodies.
The Death Korps of Krieg Death World are often deployed to the most dangerous and remote locations in order to deal with threats that would be too difficult or expensive for other Imperial forces.
Those who are able to endure the complete training process are encouraged to volunteer for Death Korps of Krieg Death World service.
The formation of the regiment depends upon the edicts of the Departmento Munitorum and the strategic needs of the moment.
The Death Korps of Krieg Death Worlds are worlds which have been stripped bare in a nuclear war, or so radioactive that their inhabitants live within domed cities and subsist on irradiated food supplies manufactured from the native soil.
They have the strengths of discipline, extreme endurance, expertise in trench warfare and most notably their tolerance for high attrition rates and environmentally hazardous warzones.
The regiments have standard and recognisable Astra Militarum command structure dictated by Departmento Munitorum.
Death Korps Officers:
Their main duty is to lead and fight from the front. Death Korps officers are expected to be front line commanders, leading from the very forefront of battle. Death Korps troops have a certain level of autonomy when it comes to tactical decisions and their orders may not always come down from high command. They are commanding with grenades, powerful sidearms and either a Chainsword or Power Sword.
Death Korps Commissar:
They are the voice of the restraint, tactical advisors rather than enforcers of discipline.
Death Korps Grenadier:
Grenadiers are strong and sizable elite force within the larger Death Korps. Casualty rates amongst grenadiers are very high; Death Korps Grenadiers are only deployed when the situation calls for their heavy weaponry.
Death Korps Engineer:
The Death Korps Engineers’ skillset is varied, and they can be found on both worlds of sulphurous death or those that grow so tall as to scrape at the clouds; from jungles rife with hordes of feral and many other expert knowledge.
Death Korps Watchmaster:
Watchmaster is assisted by an appointed senior guardsman, usually the longest serving guardsman in the squad.
There is little other structural composition in the regiment. Death Korps Death Riders act as a vanguard for the main body of troops, in this they are often used to scout ahead and provide early warning.
